This is going to make me sound insane, but I never saw these titles as fighting games until now. They were just flashy vehicles for whatever Shonen Jump series Bandai Namco had gotten the rights to. And yet, underneath all that is a complex yet accessible game that rewards exploration, experimentation and practice. A proper fighting game, in other words. If you’re looking for another 3D fighter, give this one a shot. If you’re a My Hero Academia fan however, you absolutely can’t miss My Hero One’s Justice. This could be the start of something beautiful, after all.

My Hero One’s Justice is a good fighting game that shines the most in the multiplayer and that will be truly appreciated by those who already are fans of the manga/anime. Despite its lack of depth regarding single player content, it is an enjoyable experience due to the fine adaptation of the heroes and villains as well as because of its fun customization system.

The game's visuals and atmosphere are a blast and it is great fun to wield the expanisve variety of abilities. The combat system, while certainly playable, could use a bit more nuance, and storytelling seems confused about who its aimed at. Overall, My Hero One's Justice is a strong first entry with mountains of potential in what we hope will become a long running series.

This anime-styled fighter goes plus ultra for fans of the My Hero Academia franchise, but its lackluster single-player content feels phoned in.

My Hero One’s Justice may be a faithful and stylish adaptation of the hit anime series, but all the fancy graphics in the world can’t do justice to a game whose kryptonite is a severe lack of real substance.

After a while, the experience of playing the game can feel akin to being dropped into a TV show's previously-on segment.

But if you are a fan and you have $60 to spare, it will scratch your MHA fighter itch.

The most obvious comparison will be the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm series. This is from a different developer, but there are similarities in the gameplay. But OTOH:

    - controls are a little bit sluggish/floaty compared to the UNS series. Tracking is also a little bit worse, so you will whiff a lot if you just button mash. You need to be more spatially aware with this game.
    - unnecessarily long load times. It's not GTA V long, but we're talking at least 40 seconds just to load a menu screen.
    - lots of people are having issues. I am *personally* not having any issues, but the complaints are numerous and varied enough that we simply can't chalk this up to user error. It probably needs a patch to iron out kinks. Read the other reviews or the forums and decide for yourself if the issues are a dealbreaker for you.

I don't know the animé but I do know fighting games and I've been having a lot of fun with this game. This has a lot of dbz DNA and II don't know the animé but I do know fighting games and I've been having a lot of fun with this game. This has a lot of dbz DNA and I especially love that dbz thing where alot of the combat takes place in the air. characters have a limited move set of about maybe 15 moves incl some insane ultimates. And all moves are easy just press buttons. Not much directional gymnastics needed. All the skill in this game is all about bating and timing then combo. Sadly the default mode is auto combo for the kids but u can switch to manual to make you own combos. In ranked online most people are using manual combos and extremely effectively. Also online is very try hard. I've played it enough now to see that there is great unbalance between many of the characters but to honest I like this as noob are playing all the op character. A simple, but fresh and most fun fighting game. especially good for local play with friends who maybe not good at fighting games as they can just button mash. It not highly technical like soul calibre more simple like dbz so quick to learn but yea lotta fun. I like it. Expand

Think along the lines of smash, powerstone, etc etc, rather than something like dbfz or bbtag.

Are there problem areas? Damn straight. Story mode seems like an afterthought and something just sort of 'there', it's only real purpose is to unlock things, which is a huge downside if you're here for single player content. Controls are a bit simplistic for a fighter compared to other fighting games, which again, makes a lot of people unhappy, looking for something more serious.

The good? The game is very fun. Like, very fun. Environments get destroyed, everyone has crazy super moves, etc etc. It's flashy. It's fast. The more I've been playing it, the more fun it is. And it's very easy for people to get in to, but even for people looking to take a little more seriously will find some fun combos still. Is this enough to rate this as high as I did? I thought about that for a very long time, and I settled on yes. A lot of the modes and things in the game are half-assed and not really all that great, but it's core, multiplayer fighting, is fun enough to me to tip the scales. A lot of the negative reviews rate the game low because of the single player content - and rightfully so,but for me, I was never really going to fiddle with that unless I had to, so I didn't really take much off for that.

This will never be anything competitive. This is more of a fighter to just chill and have fun with, nothing serious, and you won't find any crazy insane tech that require ultra perfect timing, but that aside, you have something fast and fun, with MHA flavor.

Story is pretty much the stain arc through the All for One arc, nothing special too it. The gameplay actually pretty solid, some weird hit-boxes here and there but nothing too major, feels good to play in the end. I would say definitelly get it if you're a MHA fan and you got some money to spare, just know that online is probably the main part of the game that is going to be played. The customization is a pretty fun addition too, nice little thing they put in there that I actually enjoy playing around with.

Or just ignore everything I said and get it for the waifus.

The gameplay is fun but like all fighting games it's fun when you're good at it, and in the 5-10 hours I've played the game it's (thankfully, for me at least) not very difficult to get your head around. Overall it's simple and fun and a must buy for any MHA fan but might raise some eyebrows for hardcore fighting game players. Expand
